I bought my iguana for about $100 dollars at a pet store. He was around 3 years old with a few previous owners that could no longer deal with his care. But the babies in the store were so cheap! Only 12 bucks!! Though i have seen them now in stores for 40 bucks(at nicer stores that won't just sell to some kid off the street. Who most likely will stick the ig in a shoebox and think it will be okay. At least the larger ones were more expensive~~ I have seen a pet store supplier list and they bought there igs for $2.50 a piece!! That is really sad~~ Anyone who owns an iggy knows that they are worth there wieght in gold~~ Yes they can be difficult~~ but they also have a sweet side~Sometimes you just have to look hard to see it~~(smiles)~ They have huge breeding farms where they collect most of the babys and ship them over here. So there is no shortage of iggys~~ just a shortage of qualified people to take care of them~~ After watching a program on where they come from and seeing how they capture the adults and bind them and sell them at market for food~~ It was really hard to watch ~~ they think of igs like we might think of chickens~~ they are even called chicken of the tree's.
