I see your point about microchipping, we haven't done it to the igs although we did look into it bacause of the dog.
I am interested in using the chip for research purposes through a rescue facility. If all igs adopted out had the chip then potentially, they could be tracked to provide a whole bunch of different data.
I also kinda of am interested in the chip as a way of making people responcible for their animals. We took in an ig three weeks ago from the local animal shelter that walked up someone's driveway and passed out. They were kind of enough to call animal controll. You can tell from the ig's condition that is was abused/neglected and animal controll would love to bring the former owner up on charges .... but we have no way of knowing who the person was, they obviously never came looking for the ig. If the ig was chipped it would have been a possibility to find the person.
