Because it CAN happen where deaths occur from conspecifics. Yes, there are plenty of iguanas that can and do live "happily" together for their entire lives, but such is not always the case.

It's a good warning to follow, and to remember that it can happen. Multiple igs NEED HUGE enclosures to ensure aggression does not surface, and they need to be monitored closely.

Unfortunately, with a lot of people keeping even one ig in too small of an enclosure leads to several igs in FAR to small of a living space. Also, with a lot of people not knowing the sex of their pets, males living together and killing each other happens.

For these reasons I would suggest to anyone that multiple iguanas not be tried without considerable experience and forthought.
