I rescued my 1-1.5 year old iguana from a BAD pet store that took him in from a surrender type situation and because of which refused to pay the needed vet bills for him. I paid 20.00 for him and within the first week paid 300.00 in vet bills. He had to have toes amputated and several other problems.
We already had an enclosure ready since we had planned to adopt from CORR. When I saw Frodo in the store bleeding and they told me they wouldn't do anything about it..well he came home.
SOOOO to make a long story longer. I don't think just any petstore should be able to sell iggys. There is a reptile specialist shop here that only sells older iggys that people have surrendered to them. Most of these have visible signs of MBD and most are VERY thin when they arrive.
I agree with the previous post that if hatchlings are sold by a reptile specialist type store they should price them alot more to weed out the throw away pet buyer.
My 2 cents
Donna and Frodo
: I agree whole heartedly with the idea that baby iguanas do NOT need to be sold in every petshop
