is nothing....That's right -Free ....Gratis...Zero...Zip....Nada. We've gotten our last 7 that way - of course we have a small rescue for iguanas that are abused/unwanted. Why, we've just received our second phone call in 2 weeks from the local animal shelter because someone found an ig wandering around outside their home. Yes, there is a catch. You have to spend the next 15-20 years with this lizard. You have to spend roughly $1500 a year on it (NOT including vet visits @ 2 per year minimum)AND you have to spend roughly an hour a day with it.
IF you have done your research and still want an iguana, do your best to find a rescue operation near you where you can adopt an ig. Buying one from a store does not give you any guarantees that it will be healthy. Check with any local herp societies for help. Also, BEFORE you get one, look around for a qualified herp vet - you WILL need one at some point. Start by checking www.arav.org.
