Those of you who are doing it are playing the odds...and they are not very good! So many people have posted about their iguanas escaping. I wouldn't take the chance. I would never let an iguana down on the ground outside...this is a very vulnerable position for them and instinctivly they feel very unsafe...want to run for cover and higher ground (especially trees). Your spooked iguana can run in front of a car as well. My last iguana took off at the beach... he appeared to be enjoying himself then suddenly got spooked by how wide open the area was and ran for the bushes (I luckily caught him beforehand) but I was never crazy enough to risk losing him again.
