In Reply to: Sorry, Christy. What city are you in? np posted by JohnT on June 17, 2001 at 18:19:40:

There is a mejier and other stores about 30 mins away if wal mart is still out today ill be heading to another town.

: : I will break off the blooms soon as I go back out there at the latest friday. They are decent size but not the huge size you see at stores. I have enough for her tonight nad tomorrow if they local wal mart dosent have any by then ill head to the next town on my search.

: : : Christy, your collards are going to seed, called bolting. Collards are best grown when the weather is a little cooler, and in hot weather, they try to bloom and go to seed. Try breaking out the blooms as they appear. This should direct the plants' energy to producing leaves instead of seed.

: : : I believe you are in the Cleveland area, and Ohio has many Meijer grocery stores. Try one of these if you haven't already, as I have found that they always have collards, mustard, and turnip greens.

: : : Good luck,

: : : John
