as a breeder of other reptiles who has rescuded iggys, i think they need what they are used to. one of my boys was never handled, and so he is not good with people, the other was babied and spoiled, and if he is not getting enought attention he will throw a fit! besides people he has been raised with other animals, and i will often find him basking in the same windowsill as my cat!
it is up to you, i know they dont show the same feelings as cats and dogs, but they do need some attention, they are not like plants who just need food, water, and light, they need some interaction from the enviroment thay are in. no need to "cuddle" but some careing is important. i even take the time to greet my breeder animals everyday.
