I can give mulitple examples here are a few.....
Our largest female Mel lives in the dining room. Mel has always loved attention from any human that came into our house and would eagerly come to the front of her house to be rubbed and talked to. She was fond of our neighbor, he always used to come in and give her a rub and talk to her. Then one day during this whole egg laying business, the neighbor came in and Mel just stayed under her basking spot -the neighbor went to pet her and she pushed his hand away -the neighbor called her a b$#%h as well as saying a few more unkind things to her but NEVER made any attempt to touch her in any way. I told the neighbor off, he apologized, he says he thought he was being funny -the next few times Mel saw this neighbor she would tail whip him -Mel never tail whips anyone! Now I don't pretend to believe that Mel really understood what this man was saying but I do believe that Mel picked up on vibrations in his voice that he wasn't being kind to her -now she reacts with definet unhappiness at the site of him -Needless to say, the neighbor is no longer welcome in our home (for a number of reasons) and when we take Mel outside, we stay clear of that side of our property.
Dharma likes attention from everyone except for children. She will allow any man or woman to touch her and talk to her but if a child even so much as comes near her house she head bobs, stump whips and opens her mouth widely. This week has been particulary tough on me and when I heard about our friend Rishi I have to admitt that I broke down in tears -Dharam climbed up on my chest and rubbed her face over my tears and licked my cheek.
When Jimmie first arrived we were told by her last owners that she did not like to be held -Whenever Mr D or I opens Jimmie's enclosure she jumps right onto our shoulders and it is often a battle of wills to et her back in her house. If a stranger comes to her she acts all wild!
Robin -poor Robin gets the least of my attention these days. Between sick igs, gravid igs and a new puppy, I rarely am the one to hadle baths and free roam for him/her. During the last week Mr D has been around to help me which has given me more time to do the daily free roam -when I try to handle Robin he/she freaks out, I was a bloody mess -when Mr D picks Robin up he/she is a perfect little angel. Robin has clearly shown which human he/she prefers, even though I am the one who regulary feeds and changes water.
I have to say that our iguanas are just an affectionate and have as much personality as our puppy. They all hang out on the sofa with the humans to watch TV, they all show unhappiness when us humans don't have play time, Mel even plays a game with the pillow Diana made her where when she wants attention and we aren't right there to give it to her -she throws her pillow on the floor because she knows we will come pick it up and hand it back to her -she tried this once or twice with her water dish but I think after seeing me get mad decided the pillow was a better game!
