But im a big animal nut and i fully and truly bevlie that all animals have feelings not exactly like us humans but I do think they do. My Double D is a "tame" iggy Well as tame as an iggy can get. They show fear (example we brought DD home and he saw Grizzly (big dog) he FREAKED ran straigt to me trying to get saved lol. She does show her likes and dislikes, with me she crawls up on my shoulder and relaxes, with hubby she tail whips and shows him she likes me more. If you are taking care of all your iguanas needs and choose not to have them as a "shoulder pet" and are willing to deal with them as WILD then I say good for you for caring for them.
: i recently had a freind bring his girlfreind over to see my reptiles, along with several venomous snakes, large monitors and boids i have 2 iguanas i rescued a while back. ive never considered myself and iguana lover but when they came into my home i gave them the same love and care i give my other animals..... Now thats the problem, having spent most of my herp life dealing with animals that you dont let sit on your lap or hand feed i gave the 2 iguanas the same treatment i am a pretty strong beleiver that reptiles have no emotional attachment to their owners therefore i let them run the show, i dont pick them up to cuddle or hand feed them... i take them out to get sun, bathe, clean their cage etc. but give them no "Dog and Cat" treatment. Well when my freinds girlfreind saw the way my iguanas "resisted" my moving them she cracked up and gloated about how tame her iguana was..... does the fact that i dont treat my WILD exotic animals like demostic house pets mean i use bad husbandry ? Is it bad to give animals the care they need not the care you want? i just dont feel that these animals are capable of any sort of compassion or care for humans or even another of their species, if you died your iguana would eat spinach off your head and crap on you. not putting down the people with tame iguanas a healthy reptile is a healthy reptile but why does a Tame reptile always assume its been under better husbandry?
