In Reply to: Re: help, is my iguana mal-nurished? 1 more question posted by Iguanamomma on December 22, 1998 at 10:58:51:
: Are they out of the question because of the light they emit? If that is the case, then several folks like to use the ceramic heat things (technical word LOL). They emit heat but not light. I personally don't use them because I have young kids and don't want them to grab on to one thinking it was okay and get burned. (I made that decision after being in a pet store and I reached out and accidentally brushed one and came back with a blister!) I understand that they are expensive, but they also last longer than the night light bulbs. I've used the bulbs for over 4 years now without incident except that they are costly. The iguanas seem to prefer the ones that emit a soft blue tone. Our nocturnal reptiles prefer the red bulbs. These are the ones made especially for reptiles not the "grocery store party bulbs."
: As regard to the heat tapes......if your iguana is not laying on the substrate I don't know how much heat she would be getting. And I suppose the same would hold true for undertank heating pads. Then again she could probably be "shown" where she could get warmth at night and know to go there.
: Sorry for rambling!
my lil' tasha seems to only eat romain lettus, I give it straw and blue berries squash apple bannana orange like everything I even bought that juvinile iguana mix in hopes that she wont get mal nurished, should I keep trying new foods? cause I tried everything in my local grocery, and how do I get him to eat the new food she doesnt like?
