tail update (it's LONG ... hey, it's ME remember...)

well, i had an awful day at work yesterday (i'm in trouble with TWO bosses .... ) so i got to work today and i could hardly STAND it that iZ was going to have to wait til friday to go to the dr and i decided what the heck! they're already mad at me + work is gonna be slow today... so i asked if i could leave to take a pet with a broken bone to the vet .... (whew .. was that a long sentence or what) so i got off at 9am instead of 5pm ....
i'm not really happy with the "visiting vet" and the reptile vet we've seen before (that's 1 hr away) wanted me to just bring iZ up and drop him off, then he'll "do whatever" and i can pick him up tomorrow .... yeah right! i'm gonna leave my poor sick dragon alone in a strange place when he's already stressed to the max .... sigh .... so my dear sweet hubby called every vet in an hour's radius (i was still at work waiting for an answer) and we found a real live ig- vet, new to the area about 1/2 hour away ....
SO! bundled iZ up in a quilt (we have one of those itty bitty 2 1/2 seater pick-ups) and took off .... i REALLY LIKE this dr!!!!! FINALLY a vet who gives the impression that he know EXACTLY what he's doing and what he's looking for!!!!!! i'd have kissed him, but i had to keep an eye an iZ who's teeth were awfully close to my face .....
iZ behaved himself sooooooooooooo good! i think he understood this guy would help him to feel better .... the bone is cracked but still in one piece and iZ DOES still have feeling (sniffle .. he poked him with a needle ...) there's 2 small places were it swelled very slightly and broke the skin just enough to ooze some fluid out .... but it was clear (just plasma or serum) ... no infection ....
he doesn't feel it's necessary AT THIS TIME to amputate (WHEW!) and put iZ on Baytril ... he offered to splint it to see if that would keep iZ more comfortable .... but i told him iZ's reaction when i tried that last night, was to throw himself around his room and slam his tail into things, trying to get the vet-wrap off .... so, NO splint .... he's supposed to stay quiet in his room for a few days and we're to watch for any changes .... i am SO relieved!!!! ('cept his room is where he keeps getting into trouble .....! )
(i have removed the trampoline at igmom's suggestion! thought maybe the centerfolds would keep him happy tho .... he's got that date with Cleo new year's eve ya know .... i think he's been practising acrobatics to impress her ...? i REALLY need a video camera in there! i sure do wonder what goesa on when i'm at work!!!!!)
and NOW, i have to go to the store and get ORANGES for my poor baby dragon ....
