I bought my ig from a pet store about 2 months ago. He came from a pet store about 45-50 miles from my home. The stores in my area don't sell them. I know of no breeder in my area or would have prefered to go there. I know what you mean about not buying from pet stores. I wish I could find a fish breeder to buy our fish from but we do have a very intelligent lady in our area who owns a fish store. I hate to see cats and dogs in pet store windows. People on the Boxer fourm I'm on always advise people not to buy from a pet store and if someone says they already have they educate them on why not too, but don't jump their case for doing so (what's done is done). It can be done nicely and be affective. Never give up on educating somone about pet stores but keep in mind all pet stores are not alike. People need to be educated on how to tell the difference. It wouldn't be as hard for a pet store to sell reptiles but cats and dogs are different. When someone is paying big money for an AKC registered dog parents need to be seen, health testing needs to be proven, the pup should be seen w/ the litter, temperament should be proven, blood line should be proven, etc. Most pet stores can't provide this type of info unless the breeder is the owner...then only one breed would be available for sale...not multiple breeds. When buying an ig family history isn't as important but would be very helpful.;)
: Since basically the opinions I am getting are "petstores will never stop selling iguanas" and that I should go ahead and continue the same old "nice" approach (that obviously has not worked in the past years) I decided just to forget the whole thing.
: Apparently one person can't make a difference.
