that happened to iZ when he had to stay overnite at the vet's!!! (ARG!) ... (yes it happened AT the vet's!)

you *do* need to find an ig-vet asap, but for NOW, is there a vet in your area who is willing to work with you in THIS instance???

a burn is pretty much treated the same way whether it's a mammal or a reptile ... *any* vet should be able to prescribe + supply you with "Silvadine" ... it's a prescription heavy-duty anti-microbial used to treat burns in humans as well as animals ... the problem with Slivadine is that it needs to be completely washed off before being re-applied ... easy enough to solve if your ig likes baths ~ just *gently* run some water over the area + *gently* wipe with a washcloth ... apply a thickish layer to the burn when he's outta the tub ... don't rub it in, just blob some on ...

ig's take a LONG time to heal cuz they're cold-blooded ... no matter what you *do* decide to use, keep treating it daily until it is totally healed!

if this is a 3rd degree burn ~ and if there's blood, it sounds like it IS ~ i would be VERY concerned about possibly an infection setting in ... + igs are notoriously good at hiding the symptoms of one + you may not find out there even IS an infection until it's spread out of control ... this subject hits VERY close to home + i am VERY PRO-antibiotics as a PREVENTATIVE measure ... ESPECIALLY if this IS a 3rd degree burn!)

again, *any* vet can prescribe "Baytril" as an antibiotic ~ it can be given orally, pill form hidden in a piece of fruit works very well! i can refer you + the vet to site(s) with dosage info ...

DO consider giving antibiotics tho!

until you can get medical help for this ig (and you DO need to!) ... get some pure, 100% Aloe Vera gel and glob a heap of it on the burn! this time of year every store in the country should have some in the 'tanning' aisle ... read the labels and get one that has nothing BUT ALOE in it ... it will take a good deal of the pain out of the burn and will aid the healing process as well ...

WHERE are you located??? we can maybe help you find an ig-vet in your area ...

good luck + let us know how you're doing ok?!?

Bon. + iZ
