Well, it was a beautiful afternoon, and Chuck looked like he was ready for a little sun after a long North Dakota winter. This was the first time I had ever taken my hands off him when he was outside with me, so I wasnt sure how he would react. Knowing the risks of letting him roam about the yard on his own, I found the nearest thing that looked like a perch :-) This happened to be the hand rail of the deck on the side of my house. I first let him sit on the deck with my assistance (hangin on to him!), and then as he seemed more comfortable, I let him hang out on his own. He was not in the slightest bit interested in getting away, just wanted to soak up some rays while he was out there :-) In a nutshell, he behaved quite well! Ahhh.... I think it will be a good summer!

BTW, the picture above is the first I have taken that really shows his poor broken tail :-( I sure wish he still had a full length tail on him!! But there is some hope, it has grown 4 inches since November.
