YES you will need a herp vet if that tip needs to be removed in order to make the tail healthy. DO NOT try this yourself!!

I am going to leave you the website specific to your question re dry gangrene. If you've never been to M. Kaplan's site, you might like to look around at other informative articles at the main site. And if you will scroll down a bit in here, I just wrote a reply entitled "Tail Tip Tip" where I go into detail re our female's tail.

To my knowledge there is no such creature as a stump-tail iguana. Sounded logical I bet though! LOL
