: : I was recently in a local pet store who had about 12 iguanas together in a 10 gallon tank. These igs were varying in age from about 6 mos to adult. there were no babies. I dont know where they get them, but they dont buy them as babies. They were piled on top of each other in this tank, trying to be the lucky one to get on the HEAT ROCK they provide. the igs are sick, missing toes, sporting wounds from fighting.(im sure over the useless heat rock) and lying in their own poop. Nothing to climb on(but each other), My husband was so enraged, he wanted to bring in a shopping bag and steal them all! We know that wont solve the problem, but what can we do? The humane society doesnt do much for igs so ive been told,(as far as reporting it goes) Does anyone have any suggestions? I cant buy them all!

: I couldn't help but read your story here and what you said about the humane society doesn't do anything "so you've been told". Trust me and write them anyway....as long as we don't do anything at all nouthing will be done. I would also write the store. Heck, I'd write the local newspaper also. I did this one time about a pet store that was housing dogs on top of each other and allowing them to live in their fecus.... the local paper went and took pictures and printed it on the front page...:) This piticular store is now close. It was a small victory as the owners were able to open another but they have cleaned up their act alittle. I guess my point is don't quit just because you "heard" nouthin will be done. Lets educate, educate, educate!!!!!
