that came from a different region.I've seen several red igs,the first time was at the Orlando Breeders Expo and we went to an ignic here in Fla and a girl had a female red ig.The coloration or body shape is differnt from region to region.
As far as paying $50.00 for him,,,I hate to buy igs,,but if you're happy with him and the price,,that's all that matters.
Glad to hear he got a clean bill of health from your herp vet.
