If this is what I think it is, I've had one. He/she and all its kind died. The one I had came from a speciality reptile store; the others were in a pet store owned by folks I've known for over 20 yrs. She regretted ever having taken them from her supplier. They were probably wild caught and the one where you are probably was, too. They are easily stressed and high strung. If you decide to get him for yourself, I'd definitely have a vet ck him over for parasites, etc. They are fascinating creatures but when we got ours we were new to this and didn't realize right at first that he was already in poor health when he came to us. I worked so hard to get him back to healthy and just when I thought we'd passed a milestone, he died. It broke my heart and it was our children's first experience with losing a pet. (This is probably MORE than you wanted to know!! Sorry)
Is it a brown color.....close to the color of tobacco? If it is, these iguanas are "meat" eaters. Kaplan has a bit on them and they are also known as forest chameleons. I'll get that url for you and leave it here. BTW if this iguana is doing well & you are thinking of getting him and can handle his needs.....I'd say go for it. As I said, they are truly fascinating and even now I miss our Rocky.
