From what I have learned from the experience, if you don't have the tail amputated above where the gangrene stops, it will just keep killing off her tail and she will eventually die. I'm no vet and I'm not telling you this for any other reason than to let you know what I learned from a real herp vet and from this forum. Lucy is fine now and doesn't even realize 18" of her tail is missing. With a little luck, some of it will start growing back again in a few months. Good luck to you. Russell.
