Bon,
THose parental regrets will get you EVERY time wont they LOL, and im just learing as my oldest will be SIX next saturday and my youngest is almost 3. Did you smack that hubby for Not going to get you a bday present LOL, I married a man who was raised JW so holidays took a LONG time getting him to sort of participate LOL, Double D kind of did the same thing with me he wrapped his legs around my arm and wouldnt let go when I tried to put him back in his cage, like Dont leave me, I couldnt LOL. Sounds like IZ is VERY Lucky to have you in his life. Im sorry you are missing your grandaughers do you get to see them often??? I know my girls think there Gma's hung the moon and stars LOL, (even my mother who has a lot of MAJOR problems). Hope your grandaughters know how much grandma loves them :o).
:
: i knew absolutely zilch about igs when i rescued iZ ... a few years back, on my birthday, a friend called + asked if we wanted to adopt his wife's iguana? (this woman was *insane* + he'd finally talked her into adopting out her poor pets to someone who cared ... ) ... i was having a bad day, i wasn't gonna get any b-day presents or NOTHIN' and so i told hubby that yes, i wanted to go look at this iguana ... (i'd seen a 4 footer once before and it was an awesome ig but i knew nothing about them) ...
: the ig was in a 20-25 gal tank on the floor in a corner ... it was various shades of grey, about 30" stl + weighed way less than a pound ... the woman picked it up and nearly squeezed it to death saying that you had to hold it very tightly til it quit squirming ... the poor thing looked so scared i could hardly stand it ... she asked me if i wanted to hold it ... i gently took the poor little thing from her and held it up against my chest and it pushed it's head as hard as it could into my neck and i swear to god, whispered in my ear "please take me home!!" ... so i did ...
: basically, i think iZ + his ever-powerful guardian angel, chose ME ...
: we went home + i got on my son's 'puter, found kingsnake, MK, Jen Swofford, etc and learned + learned + learned ...
: regrets??? hmmmm ... just the usual parental ones: i wish i'd known ------, i wish i'd done -------, etc ... but no, i don't ever regret bringing iZ home with me! i can't even regret my lack of initial knowledge *too much* cuz if i'd known, i wouldn't have iZ ... heck if i knew then what i know now about having a *human* child, i might not have g-kids now ...
: if i could change something??? i'd fix his kidneys + change them back to healthy ... i'd change the fact that any dumbs*** can say they're an ig-vet when they know absolutely nothing about them ... i would've liked to learn to be more demanding when asking for tests, a little bit earlier than what i did, to believe my maternal instincts even when the so-called vets didn't ... i wish i could give him a room the size of my entire house instead of just a room ... you know ~ the usual parental guilt stuff ... *grin*
: but i've never regretting having iZ come into my life + i can't think of anything about *him* that i'd change ~ not even his teeth and claws cuz they're him ...
: Bon. very tired + very sad cuz i miss my g-daughters something fierce ...
