: Something seems wrong with one of my iguanas. I'm not sure what it can be. I consulted one pet store and he said it might be some kind of rectal problem and to feed it some mineral oil and rub the area with mineral oil also.
: Another pet store advised to rush it to the vet. But the iguana is small, only about 1 foot in length, maybe a few months old.
: It has some sort of red, mucousy sack suspended from the anal area. It was leaving little traces of blood the first day I noticed it and now it's starting to turn a sort brown color. I don't know if it's due to the fact I put some mineral oil on it and also fed some to him or her...
: Please help????

You need to find a veternarian that specializes in exotic animals. Don't just choose one that will work on exotic animals. Something is definitely wrong with your iguana. Waiting too long may make it impossible to save your pet. Like I said in the beginning, try to find a vet that specializes in exotics. The veternarians that work with dogs and cats also may not get as much experience as they need. The veternarian I go to doesn't work with dogs and cats. Everytime I'm in his office he has at least 1 iguana in the back that he is taking care of. They are sometimes more expensive but the expertise is worth it. Good luck.
