no, fiberboard is not particle board.
It doesnt swell & is VERY strong. So much so, that you have to drill a hole in it BEFORE you can drill the screw into it. It is VERY VERY heavy & the cage will need to be on good casters when made with this. It is very heavy... trust me.
My husband has been a carpenter for 14+ years & said that contractors are now using it for counter tops...
