i'll preface this with I'M NO EXPERT on this kind of thing- but as long as noone else has posted by now- i'll add my 2 cents! i know of other root-type veggies (manioc or cassava, for example) that contain cyanide in minute particles. when they are cooked- that cooks out. even when eaten raw, you'd have to ingest a lot for it to be poisonous- but they always recommend eating it cooked, just to be safe.
