HORRIBLE!!!! I realized that it was always a bad idea for fairs to give animals as prizes, but I never even imagined people would be THAT cruel to do the things you mentioned! Please try to get them to stop. If you find out any info and need people to write (not sure if it would do any good for non-NY residents) but I would if you asked.

Anyway, welcome to the forum...and the sites mentioned by the posts below are some of the best. And that James Hatfield book is excellent. I bid for mine on ebay and got a great deal on it.

A few quick pieces of info. while you are researching. Iguanas need a heat light, and a UV light (Zoomed Iguana light the best), and a night heat source like a Ceramic bulb. A good diet would be a mixture of some of the following: Collard, mustard greens, escarole, watercress, dandelion, endive, turnip greens, sprinkeled with squash, sweet potato, with a little fruit (blue berries, melons, etc.) Remember to shred or cut items small (you don't want your young ig to choke).

This should get you started, but there is so much more to it... so have fun researching! And welcome from me, Sleestack and FLapjack. My weblink is below--click on the iguana hand portal to see my lizards.

This photo is 1.5-2 years old, so they are much bigger now!

: im only 15 years old and i live in NYC... If i attempted to try and stop them from using iggys as a win and give away prize they will laugh at me...they make the most money from those dum games when u try and win an iggy u always see a line of hundreds of ppl lined up to win an iggy or any other animal or reptile they give away. most of the ppl have no clue how to take care of a iggy (not saying im an expert cuz i still have loads to learn) but those ppl will probly just win them and do what ever the hell they want with it (lite it on fire, cut the tail off , put it in the middle of the street and let cars run over it) and iv seen most of these things been done so ....its pretty ruff here...thats what they do to the iggys...u have to see what they do to the birds and stuff...i think that the only thing they dont hurt when they win is the stuffed animals but i think they even tourcher them...
