Your absolute best thing to do is what you've already started... Researching. You shouldn't be too much in the dark if you have a healthy snake background. Melissa Kaplan, Jen Swofford, and several others have excellent sites for information. James Hatfield has an excellent book out. Be warned, there is almost as much "misinformation" floating around as there is good info. Iguanas have been "misinterpreted" for years and only recently (5 yrs +/-) has correct info been readily available.
Iguana World is a good place to get an idea of the many facets of an iguana enclosure. IguanaFirst has some excellent ideas as well. The one thing you really need to keep in mind while you are researching is common sense. THINK about what it is that you are reading. MyIguana.com will give you an idea as to what can happen to an ig if they aren't cared for properly. Once you start looking, you'll find that there are many horror stories about how iguanas are kept. Just the fact that yours came from a carnival should disturb you once you have all of the necessary info.
For supplies, try looking at on-line stores. They can save you a good deal of money not only for igs but snakes and just about anything else. We've had excellent luck with HerpSupplies.com. Met the owner, great guy, couldn't ask for any better service than what we get from them. Prices are excellent as well. You may find cheaper prices, but we use them because he only deals in supplies. No animal sales at all therefor they aren't contributing to overpopulation problems.
What are you currently keeping him in? Food? Heat/light? Humidity?
Good luck and feel free to come back with any more questions....We'll do what we can to get you up and running.
