Wasnt the scientest telling him this as a story? Not that it happen in front of the reporter (of course im sure it could have still been gotten wrong). But after having him 12 years this iggy still hates him? At least thats what I got from the article. It is nice they are doing stories and studying behavior of igys. I just think if he had him for all of those years that hed get more than aggressive head bobs out of the iggy? Just my thoughts is all I was stating.

: First of all, I find McRobert’s study interesting. I also believe that iguanas do recognize certain people (our Harry and Hazel are prime examples).

: Second (and this is directed at Christy), if I’m reading the article correctly, this iguana (Fido) is not somebody’s pet. He lives in a lab. That doesn’t mean that he is not “loved”, but rather, Professor McRobert is most likely thinking clinically and not thinking of Fido as a family member.

: Thirdly, don’t take what is published in an article written by a reporter so literally (the use of the word lettuce). Some people refer to ALL greens as lettuce. Or, the reporter chose the word lettuce over the correct word. Another possibility could be yes it was a head of lettuce, but no where in the article does it state or indicate this is Fido’s regular diet. We do not know for sure and shouldn’t assume. Case in point was the reporter from our city’s newspaper who attended our pIGnic last August. His article was excellent, but he did get a few things wrong. No major errors, but wrong nonetheless.

: Bottom line, enjoy the article for what it was, a behavioral study and nothing more.

: Sue2
