HI Troy
Glad that you have decided to start researching proper ig care to make your baby happy & healthy.
That is what this forum is all about! :)
Anyway, the 55 gallon tank wont last long... maybe a year. Then you are going to have to build her something bigger & better... but I am sure you know that already. Have you picked up any books? Melissa Kaplans IGUANAS FOR DUMMIES & J. Hatfields ULTIMATE IGUANA MANUAL (I think that it the title... its home right now & I'm at work) re GREAT books.
If you want to add more things to the diet... try adding carrots, butternut squash, dandelion leaves, aruguala & watercress.... these are all good too. Watercress provides a good source for some added water intake.
How is the heat & humidity in your enclosure?
I would also recommend that you get a non-light heat source for the night time... like a CHE or one of those great heating panels that Mr. D knows about. I find that since I changed from a light (although it was purple or red) to a CHE, my igs sleep so much better!
Are you giving your ig baths? Every night for about 15 minutes or so you should let em' swim around in the tub. make it so the water on the shallow end is only chest deep for the baby.
Whats its name??
Look forward to seeing you on the board more! :)
Kimberley
