(Sorry everyone, I got to the end of this long ramble and realized I had posted it onto Dishy's post! I didn't want to have to go back and re-type it! Bear with! Thanks!)
Thursday we got a call about a kid going into bootcamp and needing to dump his ig. He told me it was 13 inches long so I'm thinking it's only a few months old. Well....more like at least 9-10 months since he has owned it for 8! They bought him from a local petstore and his names Booger. He isn't much bigger than one either! He is really sweet and pretty docile, but that's probably due to the fact that he's had all the wrong diet and no UVB the entire time he's been with this kid.
Instead of keeping him, Patti (Triangle Iguana Rescue co-ordinator)and I exchanged Igs today. We now have Godzilla (alias Mr. Z) tucked away for the night. Patti was nice enough to part with him and take Booger off our hands. Mr. Z needs extra TLC and taming time and with Patti working full time and trying to take care of NINE iguanas we brought the little squirt to her and left with Mr. Z. Anyway, I'll be adding his pics to my site in a few weeks. He is about the same size as Baby, just a tad smaller. He is really aggressive when you go to pick him up, but once you have him calmed down he's a sweetheart! I'm thinking his Bark is a lot bigger than his Bite.
Anyway, one final thing....On the way up to Raleigh I took Booger by the pet store that he was purchased at along with a care sheet. I had one of the employees come out and take a look at him and was able to talk to her about the fact that he should be at least twice his size right now and that he'd never had UVB or the proper diet. (naturally they recommended lettuce, dry food and carrots)I told her that they would make a lot more money by selling UVB bulbs then hot rocks and asked if she would please have her co-workers read over the care sheet so that they could give out the right info.
I was very nice about it and because of that, they will probably continue to give my number out when someone in need calls the store about their iguana. The owner is planning on letting our Rescue group come and do a booth there when the weather warms.
Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble about our latest saga. As you can tell, I'm quite enjoying being able to help out our little green friends! J
