My schedule is much like your and your daughters. What we do is put the fresh food in the bowl at night before we go to bed which is around 11pm. Then when we wake up around 7am, we put our Iguana into the bath tub whether she has eaten or not. She normally does poop. Then when I get home around 5pm I put her in the tub again. She normally goes then too, but not as much as the morning.
She never goes in her enclosure, but we do have a tub in there just in case she has to go or if we go away for the night.
To potty train her, we started on a Saturday afternoon, and then put her in the tub until she pooped. We immediately took her out and put her back into her enclosure or let her free roam. We repeated this for about a week or so and never had a problem since. Now right after she poops, she sits like a dog and waits for us to pick her up. Lots of luck............
