Lindsay, our enclosure is 6 x 6 x 3.5, and it fits through any door. the reason is that the frame is built out of panels which are made of 2x2 wood covered with vinyl covered hardware cloth. It consists of a floor made of plywood covered with vinyl flooring, and 7 panels. 4 panels are 6 x 3, and 2 are 6 x 3.5, and one is sized to fit the top. One of the panels has a door built into it. The secret is that the panels are held together with 3" drywall screws, and when the thing is assembled, it is extremely strong, but easily disassembled. The drawback to this type of enclosure is heat. You have to heat a whole room because of the hardware cloth. Although I haven't done it, I don't see why you couldn't make this type enclosure woth solid sides, plywood and plexiglass. At any rate, panels are what make it work.
Best regards,
John
