: yes, it is perfectly normal ... the pores themselves do not actually extend or retract .... in males they are more "open" than in females and the white stuff is actually a keratin plug exuded by the pores for mating season ... theory is that they use it to scent mark their territory - as they climb on branches, some will rub off on the bark of trees, etc. ... iZ's will extend quite a bit at times (had to get my tape measure out to translate cc into inches ...)and your ig's sound just like iZ's .... it's NOT something to worry about OR to remove!!!!
: i HAVE noticed this year that iZ's have gotten alot smaller, alot QUICKER this year .... i'm pretty sure it's because before he had many things to climb on, but for the past 8 months, we've had an actual tree limb in our living room for him .... the roughness of the bark must be "filing" them down to pre-season size ....
: i've also been reading that male igs tend to go thru a change about the age of 4-5 yo ... but iZ and i are there quite yet so i have no further wisdom to impart .... *grin*

: happy igging to ya!!!

: :P + :)
: iZ + mom

Many thanks for your reply. It is really good to get an informed response such as yours. Especially as this is the first time I have contacted this site an asked for help.

Once again thanks.

I'm sorry that I don't understand the abreviations at the end. Maybe you could send me a translation.
