OK - Zoe had her first vet visit today. $168.00 later & we still arent sure yet what is going on with her...
It's been about 4 - 5 days since she poo'd. She is down to eating 1/2 a bowl (she was eating 2 full bowls) & is still angry.
This was my first time seeing this vet, another ig owner recommended the office to me. So, I am not sure how they are yet really.
They seemed ok.
The vet felt around her belly, pushing here & there & said she couldnt feel any blockage or hardness. Her mouth looked great inside, no problem there. Her overall health seems ok. She has a SLIGHT wheeze on her exhale from the right lung but the vet said she isnt too concerned with it. Her heart sounded good too.
We gave a very tiny stool sample (it was mixed in w/ urates this morning - but was very tiny, barely visable). They are going to test it for parasites. They took a lot of blood & are going to send it to a lab to test her from nostril to tail for everything including vitamins & blood parasites... organs, & other stuff. I should get those results back by Monday.
If the blood work & fecal dont show anything, and if Zoe still hasnt gone... we are going to do xrays. : (
The vet said I should give Zoe a 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil to see if that helps her.
She is lathargic & I can TELL that she is bothered by something. I just dont know what. I wish they could talk.
Let me run this by all of you...tell me what you think...
Could it be because she was only eating apples, bananas & romain lettuce & then came to live w/ me & was given vitamin rich healthy foods? Should I have weened her system onto the new food? Do you think the food was too rich for her right off the bat? Let me know what you think.
It's just something that I am guessing at really - since I dont know what is going on.
Tomorrow will be 1 month since Zoe moved in here. (And I am very attached to her.)
Kim

PS: The vet said that her black scars looked like it was a bacterial infection at one time & advised me to keep up w/ the betadine baths. It hasnt gotten better or worse since she has been here.
