When I first got into Iguanas, I must say that I was young and stupid and thought the pet store would give me quality advice on feed. Well, needless to say that advice didn't help my first iguana. I bought what I thought were the pest canned iguana foods and fed them to my iguana. She then suffered from MBD and died. After a year of reading every book and website, I bought another iguana with the desire of raising her the best I could. The first thing I did was throw the canned food into the trashcan. Nothing beats the raw veggies. There is a guy in Philly who owns a great reptile petstore (called Radical Reptiles) and he told me the best thing to remember, "DON'T EVER SUBSTITUE ARTIFICIAL FOOD FOR THE REAL FOOD. YOU WANT THE ENVIRONMENT TO BE AS CLOSE TO THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AS POSSIBLE. SINCE IT IS HARD TO DO THAT IN CAPTIVITY, YOU WILL MAKE YOUR ANIMAL LESS STRESSED IF THE FOOD IS THE BEST TO OFFER. THERE ARE NO 'KIBBLES AND BITS' IN THE RAIN FOREST "
Ever since my first experience, I have become a snob and visit petstores and act clueless and act interested in ubying and iguana. I have found only 3 stores in Philadelphia who actually care about their iguanas. The other are just out to sell as many as they could. SORRY TO BE VERBOSE.
