First I will say I have NO CLUE what the petition is about have not read it. You have the right to disagree with anything you wish :o). What I do have to disagree with is your comments about this board, I came here after being directed here. I came here after doing some research, not being prepaired but still ending up walking out of a pet store with a 2 to 3 yr old iggy. NO ONE EVER said anything bad about me buying him from a pet store no one said anything about me spending 70.00 on an iguana that had been previously abused. No one came down on me for not being prepaired before he came home. Just the opposite they were willing to help me with any and every thing I need. Foolish as it sounds I even emailed someone from the list about iggy poo looking diffrent LOL, only to find out it was normal. These people are nice, kind and willing to help anyone. They are saying to save heartache becareful where you get your iggy, that pet stores MOST NOT ALL are bad, give mis information, and just plain dont care. Whats wrong with someone offering to help find an adoptive iggy for someone vrs getting a pet store iggy? They dont push it down anyone they dont say you HAVE To rescue they encourage, but dont bash anyone who comes here with a pet store iggy. Just wanted to put my 2 cents in if it matters any

: I also do not agree with your statements, but I will not be signing that petition. One by one, we will keep picking away at pet stores. I have no problem with this, because most of them treat the iguanas they sell like crap, and dont inform the purchaser about what they are getting in to. Eventually, it will be illegal to import Iguanas into the U.S. That is fine, we all know the conditions that iguanas are kept in during shipment. So that leaves us with only U.S. breeders and illegal importers. We will see an increase in iguana farms in the southern states, and the numbers will stay the same at pet stores due to excessive illegal importing. Eventually it will become illegal to breed iguanas. With no breeders, and a steady supply of illegaly imported iguanas, it will be illegal to OWN an iguana, and this forum will be no more. I like my iguana, and I enjoy having one. I do not want this right taken away from me.

: I know there are a lot of people here that have owned, cared for, or rescued MANY iguanas, but I am willing to bet at one time those same people were just like a lot of us here now. NEW to the iguana world, eager to learn, and anxious to help. Did they get chased away with a stick, because they bought an iguana at a pet store instead of adopting one that was living a painful, miserable life due to mistreatment from its previous owner? NO. They were welcomed to the community. I really wish it could be that way now.

: But there will be no change. You will be cruicified for your mistakes. If you come here with your new baby ig, expect to be bludgeoned with a keyboard, beaten with a mouse. This is the way it is.

: Mark

: : Ok, I need your help again. The petition I had made that has over 300 signatures is completely useless because my e-mail account I had signed it up with crashed. SO now I can't access it to print it out professionally. So I had to make another petition: http://www.123petitions.com/cgi-bin/system/sign1.cgi?id=spsac@yahoo.com$8 It says the same thing but I took off all the optional fields.. so now you just have to sign your name and e-mail address. I also need a picture of a huge iguana (to show how huge they can get). I would really appreciate it if the people who "advertised" the petition before would do it again. It's so frustrating but HOPEFULLY we will be able to get all the signatures that were lost back.
