: From what i've seen, their cages are best suited for 3 footers igs, but not 5ft. adults.
: They are expensive as hell, and may have to be replaced in 5 years or so.
: Custom building a cage is the best way to go if you want to start out big.
: There are books on iguana care and books focused on TERRARIUMS that have a great deal of info on building cages for different animals.
: Richard D. Barlett's book on terrariums is quiet popular, you can find it at Amazon or other book sites.
: Sometimes though, "too big" may be a shock to a lil iguana, kinda like "woah, this is all for me?".
: But they adjust quickly, and benefit a lot, due to a multitude of basking spots, hiding places, and HEIGHT!
: When i had my iguana, i immediately housed it in a 8x8x8 enclosure.
: I made it so that it could be disassembled easily, and be as easy to clean as possible.
: *KEEP IN MIND* : tame igs once they reach 2.5-3 feet of length can be let free-roaming around a room and at 3.5-4+ feet a whole house!
: So the cage at that point becomes more like a "bedroom" than a "house".
: The iguana will use it to bask, eat, and poop, but the rest is all exploring the home, and hanging around with you.
: (IF IT'S TAMED).
: I used rubber-coated wire mesh for the 4 walls, and as substrate that astro-turf.
: Make sure u get a good qualtity one, so the toenails wont get stuck in. Cut into tiles, it can be easily removed/cleaned/replaced in case of pooping/spilled food.
: Remember though that iguanas need lotsa height, and spend most of their life "up there". Good, sturdy branches/fake trees are the way to go.
: If you plan to get a log from the backyard or so, boil it in water, the soak in bleach when dry. Re-boil it, re-soak in bleach. Reboil it a thrid time and let dry.
: This way, you ar esure that all organisms/parasites are gone. The secon dip in bleach is optional.
: For the first 3 years or so, the iguana will most likely live 90% of its life in the cage.
: At a good size, and tameness, (and housebroken) you can start letting him go around the house.
: Im usre others will tell you more. If you want details of my enclosure, reply so, and i'll post it up!
: Good luck!
: : I am looking for a supplier of large igauna cages or plans to build one. If anyone has pics of theirs, that would be great help.
: : We are getting a little one but want to start out with a big cage.
: : Thanks,
