Two and a half months is not an inordinate amount of time for Gizmo to be really p.o.'d that 'somebody' moved her home. (Igs are tempermental and VERY attached to their routine.)

Make routine attempts, several times a day for extended periods of time, to touch her - whether or not she will come out of her cage. Then, in a few days, take her out of the cage regardless of her struggles and try to comfort her into calming down.

It's won't be easy, and there will probably be some blood shed (yours), but in the end, it will be worth it. SHe is just terrified right now.

I agree with xta (and the others) she is at the right age to be 'egging' (igs lay eggs whether or not the have a male companion). You need a starting place with Gizmo to make sure she's healthy, not egg-bound and free of parasites - this is for your sake as well as hers.

She may have a medical reason for acting so schizo, or she may be just plain scared. Let a qualified vet make that decision based on facts.

Lastly, the resources xta provided are GREAT places from which to glean correct information about ig husbandry. Try to read as much as you can. It'll help you be more at peace knowing your ig is 'normal' and the behaviors a 'normal' ig displays.

Heat, a UVB light, humidity and diet are crucial to an igs health and well being. Drop the vitamin spray and pellets and go to a proper ig diet as quickly as possible. It sounds as though Gizmo was not only denied human contact, but proper husbandry, as well.

You've done a wonderful thing by taking her. Then, you did another wonderful thing by caring enough to get correct information about caring for an ig.

Hang in there! Gizmo can't help but love you (even if only in her own 'special'way) for all the things you've already done for her.

Lastly, read, read, read. It will be, not only educational, but very interesting and beneficial to you both.

Best of luck and welcome to the forum!
