Well, all I can go on is how I've seen them perform on a friend's ig. The Myiguana.com site has a new addition of an ig named Rishi. I know this iguana personally (I've met his humans too, he takes good care of them) and the results that he has had since they started using an Active bulb are really rather remarkable.
Granted, I have a hard time trusting test results when the tests themselves are funded by a major corporation so I cannot necessarily take much stock in the "numbers" (see BU study at Myiguana.com). All I can go on is how Rishi looked the last time I saw pictures of him as I haven't been able to visit him for a few months now.
I keep reminding myself that, much like a lot of things in HUMAN life, there are no miracle cures when dealing with iguanas and other herps. No one thing is going to make any severe changes in the health of an animal. But when you combine several good elements, i.e. heat, light and diet, how can you go wrong ? Which one of those three is more important than the other two ?
These bulbs may not be for everyone. Every ig may not have the same results. Fortunately, I have been able to see some good results from one first hand. If someone comes to me and says that they HAVEN'T had the same results I'd have to look at all three of those aforementioned elements and see if they are all right. If so, and there STILL were no results then I'd say that the bulb didn't work in that situation. But at least they were tried first hand as opposed to being denounced and ripped apart by someone getting at least second hand information. Please note that this statement is NOT directed at anyone on this board but is made in relation to articles that I have recently read that were brought to my attention.
Maybe if we can convince someone to do some independant studies on the actual outputs of these bulbs we could get some definitive answers once and for all - unless someone knows of studies that have already happened. I'd love to see the results of them if they do exist....;)
