From what I read of the situation,I think Joan was aware the dangers.However Lydia,she did also note that the set up was temporary.Should the Iguana have made it into the permanent enclosure,I would have to guess that the element of danger would have deminished.I do not keep any cats or dogs now,but when I was just a lad living under my mothers roof,we had two cats and a dog....and two Iguanas.There was never a problem between the animals,other than perhaps some initial stress of the felines up to the point where the Iggs became acclimated.I think your view is at best broad,and not very well thought out.I would have to guess the relationship between such animals would vary greatly according to the individual animals involved.Accidents do happen,and as a result most of us learn from it.I think the lesson to be learned from Joan's incident lies more in the safety of cages,rather than the mixing of the different classes of animals.
