Thought that the thread was getting a little buried. Here was your last post:
>>What a handsome guy. You have done very well in raising such a >>trophy. What have you donein the past to get your guys to come >>to you when you call their names. Ours is still young, I was >>just wondering the time frame at when they start to do this. >>Our's just runs away.
Thank you, I would not consider him a "trophy", but I think I know what lines you were going with on that.
As far as coming when called, keep in mind that it is not like calling a dog, they come (or should) every time you call without thought - master speaks, dogs listens. Igs are mosr like cats in their personalities, I call one of their names, the igs attention is caught, it then decides whether it wants to come see you. I have found that just talking to them, calling them by name, will over time result in them learning the association with that word and them. (ie - they learn their names in a sense) When you call their name, you simply get their attention. However, if you have a relationship with your ig where it trusts you, and sees some use out of you, (petting, helping shed, whatever) then the fun starts and they will a lot of the time come over when you call.
For Phaedra (female) this took 2 years. Theseus (male) he had it down in 6 months. They were both 2 when I got them.
