Russell, the biggest hazard to walking an ig on a lead outside is permanent loss of the lizard. No matter how good the harness, no matter how much you've done it inside, Igs can be escape artists where leads are concerned. As you already know, they are still wild animals and as such are unpredictable.... You may be fine walking outside for many sessions, and suddenly, the ig is doing croc rolls, freaking, struggling, and being generally impossible to handle. If this happens, and in one split second the Ig gets out of the harness, or it slips your hand, I guarantee that you cannot outrun a startled ig. If they get up a tree, the chances of recovery are slim. The upshot of this is, if you decide to do it, just understand the risks....
