We feed as much of the vegetable as we can and that includes stems. After doing some research, independent of the big names in ig care, we came to the conclusion that since in many cases different parts of a fruit or vegetable have different nutritional values, it made sense it feed the whole thing unless the item in question is known to be or suspected to be toxic or related to casuing health problems. Greens stems contain a good portion of water and we encourage them to eat them to increase water intake.

Sounds like all is well out there in Utah!! Good to hear it!! Don't worry, veggie prices will drop in a few months! or, if you're like me, you'll just grow your own. We're doing a complete iguana garden this year, partially to save a little $, partially because I love fresh veggies right from the garden and if I grow the flowers I'll know they're safe to feed everyone. This should be interesting ... I'm wondering how well collards, mustard green and turnip greens will thrive up here. lol
