I have heard complaints from several people that the Zoo Med incandescent bulbs are touchy. We use ESU SPOT Incandescents, they run us around $5.50 per bulb from herpsupplies.com and we have not had any problems with them at all.
I like the ESU spot bulbs for a number of reasons, one of the main ones being the how they diffuse the light to provide a nice basking site for the igs and yet are soft enough even with 2 enclosures in our living room that we are not blown out by brightness. IMHO They also generate a better, more even heat (which we use to keep the smaller enclosures warm).
We keep a stock pile of bulbs around just in case. We never know who is going to be dropping by or when a bulb is going to break or burn out! The price we pay for the ESUs is even cheaper than buying a spot light at WalMart! Better to be prepared than to have to run to that PetCompany at 9 PM because someone just decided he or she was a Flying Walinda and took out the last day or night bulb we had. lol
