Thanks, he was setting side ways on my lap, no shaking of his head or anything just completely out of the blue. He wants to keep me guessing LOL. I know there are no guarantees that he wont do it again, but I want to come up with reason's why or how to prevent it in the future. Around here an animal gets one unprovoked bite, thats it, if it is just completely no reason for it at all. I have to have this policy as I have three small kids, Now that is an unprovoked bite to my kids, me or the dh we give them more of a chance if its us. I have only had one unfigured nip in the house and I have two dogs, a rabbit, a guniea pig and now double d, So everyone is here to stay so dont get me wrong. I think I have figured out why he did it, its one of two reason's First I didnt think about it had washed my hands but then had to hand a cookie to my youngest and didnt rewash my hands, so either I smelled really good LOL. OR I motion with my hands when I talk, and I might have scared him. He seemed really sorry after wards , he came slowly sneaking up to me stuck his tounge out a couple of times crooked his head and just looked innocent LOL, as if trying to convince me he was really sorry and he was to sweet to do it again LOL.
: Hey, how was he sitting in your lap? The reason I ask is that a long time ago when I had Baby on my lap he also bit me. Lucky for me it was when he was a juvie, but I think I know why. I had my legs crossed and he was sitting up on my knee with his head facing toward me and I came in from the front to pet him. He got nervous and chomped.
: I'm not saying this is what happened with yours, but just for future reference I would recommend always having him sit either sideways or facing straight ahead, that way you can predict him better.
: If he shakes his head when you go to pet it, that's another sign that he's feisty so stick to petting his sides and back until he relaxes more. He may have just felt threatened. You did the RIGHT thing by carrying on with him and acting as if it didn't bother you. This will hopefully show that you are in control. There is no gaurantee that he won't try and nip again, but the longer you have him, the more you will get used to his warning signs, and, believe me, they have them! Keep on with your taming sessions and good luck! Hope this helps. J
