Sari,

First off, I wouldn't recommend you ask a pet store owner how to properly care for an iguana, that in itself could be dangerous for your iguana's life.
Next, I'm figuring the "tank" is too small for starters, but I also get the feeling your iguana isn't getting any UVB lighting too....am I right?? If he/she is, when was the last time the light was changed? UVB tubes last only 6 months max and then need to be changed out.
Could you tell us what you are currently feeding your iguana and alittle more about the set up (such as basking temps, substrate, etc...)
You should NEVER treat an animal for anything unless it has been confirmed that there is a medical problem. Some chemicals for treating mites, can be dangerous for the iguana and could cause death if not done properly.
If you don't know this, an iguana can reach a size of 5 to 6 feet and will require a very large cage. Tanks are at best, a 6 month quick fix for a baby iglet but will soon out grow it and will need a much larger cage.
Sari here's some standard care you will need to follow:
1. UVB lights must be 18" or less away from the iguana and be changed out every 6 months.
2. 1 to 2 Vet check ups per year STANDARD with a fecal test done at least, blood work is highly recommend at least once a year.
3. Basking spot of 95 degrees and an area in cage that is low 80's also.
4. High humidity levels should be provided.
5. Cage size has to offer at least twice the iguana's length in room, to allow the iguana to move around.
6. Ask as many questions as possible here on the forum (highly recommend for improving your knowledge of iguana care!!!)
Follow the above list and continue your education on the requirements of an iguana and your iguana should be just fine.
Best wishes,
HD
