: : First Congrats on being a big softie (Im one to). Also 6 Year old twins?? Yikes I thought my 5,4, and 2 year old girls keep me busy LOL. This place is GREAT. I was researching trying to find info and educate myself before getting an iggy. Well I had heard a story of a 3 yr old previously abused iggy, I went JUST TO LOOK and check in on him, well long story short he came home. I was refered here and they have helped me GREATLY. Since you are more than willing to learn you will be greatly helped here. Can you post a pic???

: : ._: Hi there! I'm new at the forum and I'll start by telling you how I became an ig owner. I live in Mexico, about 3 hours from the border with Texas. I walked into a pet shop to look around (a favorite hobby of mine) and found myself staring into a tank with 3 green iguanas. The guys who own the shop are Totally ingorant about iguanas and had placed half a zuccini, romaine lettuce leaves, and some huge chunks of carrots in the enclosure. Of course there was absolutely no lighting or water souce for them to drink.(I'm talking about baby ig's here.) One of the little guys was looking worse than the others so I asked if I could hold it to get a better look...It couldn't move it's hind legs. I had never owned an ig, but had done research on them just cause I'm interested in most animals and love knowing more about them. I put it back in it's enclosure and left with a shrunken heart, not before trying to convince them on what I knew about proper ig husbandry. Couldn't stop thinking about those little guys that night. The next day I went back and bought the sickest one.(Following my heart and not my mind). ´There is no store that sells the proper light sources here so I convinced my sweet husband to take me to across the border to buy whatever supplies I could find. This was two months ago, she/he can move its back legs a bit more now. Is eating fiercely every morning a delicious salad that I only wish my 6 year old twins would try. She had a bad mouth infection,I don't know if it was mouth rot, but her mouth looks almost normal now. My vet and I have done our best but I'm afraid much of it has just been common sense and a lot of guessing. Her back legs still look a bit thin. Anyway, I'm here now, ready to learn more, and hoping you guys will be nice to me and patient if I ask any questions that might sound dumb. It's nice to meet you. Lisette
