: What do you use on the floor? if your ig poops on it, is it hard to clean, how do you deal with poop in general in an enclosure that big, is there one are that it uses for that?
We took up the carpeting all the way down to the
wood (meaning the carpet and the padding), then
laid vinyl, caulking all the edges. You
have to let it air out a LONG time before you put
in the iguana after you caulk, it stinks! After the
vinyl was laid, we cut out a piece of that felt-type
green indoor outdoor carpeting, not the plastic
fake grass kind, the really thick felt type. We got
the carpet at Eagle Hardware. We did not secure the
green carpet, just laid it over the vinyl, so when it's
cleaning day, we just take it off the floor, wash
it with the hose and bleach water, let it air out.
We have a second piece, so we can rotate them.
Iggy is poddy trained too. There is a shallow box
in the bottom corner of his cage with about an inch
of water in it. He poops in there, no where else.
We put some sticks and climbing stuff in and out of
the water for him, so it looks nicer than it sounds!
We just dump out the poopy water in the toilet.
Most iguanas will naturally poop in the water if
there's some around and they can get in it. It sure
makes clean-up a lot easier!
