If you have more than one basking area, the other one will heat the surface while you iguana lays in the other. I have 3 different heat lights on at all times.
Temp ranges from 95-102 in all of them, the ActiveUV, that I cut on 3 days a week, produces the 102.
I also use 2 48 inch Reptisun5.0. I do notice that Ziggi will rotate from one to the other, so he gets belly heat this way, but I also think overall temps play a major role.
Either way, HOT ROCKS are bad and can cause serious burns and shouldn't be used. I will soon have some new pics of Ziggi, he is about 3ft 2 inches long and is 1 year and 7 months old.
He is very tame and never whips or bites, also potty trained. Gotta love'm!!!
Also got a small foster baby still, very spastic, but only about 12 inches long, eating very well, and has three horns on his nose!!
: Iguanas also require belly heat to aid in digestion. Belly heat may be provided by "HOT ROCKS", "HEAT PADS" (under the tank), Heat Tape or Ceramic Heat Emitters directed over a flat rock. If belly heat is not provided the iguana will be unable to carry out proper digestion.
: This is on the NHR care sheet. Who is right? You or them? Russell.
