Thanks for finding this Russell. And you are correct, this CAN get confusing. In the wild, iguanas MAY actually ingest a small amount of animal protein. However, as far as we (Ig Chick and I) have been able to find, no one has been able to provide any documentation regarding this and therefor, no one can make an accurate judgement regarding it. It is for this reason alone, that we advise not to feed animal protein at all. Yes, iguanas will eat it if you put it in front of them. My new favorite example of improper feeding actually came about a month ago. My largest, Mel, tried to eat the clippers while I was trimming her claws. Should I deduce from that action that it is perfectly alright to add nail clippers as part of her regular diet ?
