Regardless of any genetic weakening that may occur in a potentially fragile herp, exactly why would you want to breed iguanas ? If it is for your own personal gratification, that's all well and good. Just be prepared to have literally a house full as it would be entirely possible. Otherwise, you may want to rethink things a bit.
If you are thinking of breeding them in order to profit from the possible sale of them I would have to fully admit that whatever respect I may hold for you as a fellow iguana owner would completely go out the window because in making this decision, you change your status from owner to not only a breeder, which I suppose someone has to be in order to fulfill this strange evolutionary human chain, but you become a "back yard" breeder. Given the nature and phrasing of your question, I can only assume that you have no professional, medical, or educational ties that would prompt you attempt this. This is just because you think it would be "neat" to have done this and/or make money at it. Please feel free to set the record straight as to your motives here as I am sure that there are many people here who would be interested in your answer.
Lastly, given that you are considering this, have you even begun to think about or examine the VAST numbers of iguanas that are currently being placed in adoption listings not only nationally, but also Canada and World wide ? Do you seriously want to further contribute to the overpopulation, abuse and neglect that these reptiles are unjustly famous for receiving by the good majority of people who buy them thinking what a "neat" pet they would be to have ? Granted, I am currently making sweeping generalizations here but it is only because I have no idea of exactly where your intentions lie.
I eagerly await your response.
